Price: $7,400 USD
Steel, Leather, Iron, Wood, Bronze.
This leaf-shaped mosaic Damascus take-down quillion dagger is my most extravagant dagger to date. My ambition was to create an organically curved, supremely symmetrical dagger that blends the historical materials of the medieval times with the flowing lines and elegant design elements of high fantasy.
The hollow-ground blade is forged from an extremely intricate mosaic damascus pattern which I forged to be over 76,000 cubic layers. Of course, simply making the blade from mosaic Damascus wouldn’t be enough, so I also forged the flaring, recurve guard, pommel, and pommel-nut from hardened twisted mosaic Damascus steel as well.
The two spacers are both made from semi-patina silicon bronze to give a flare of color between the steel, leather, and wire wrap. Below the first spacer is a wood-core, goat-hide wrapped handle segment which I texturized and stitched to provide a wonderfully comfortable grip for the top two fingers. The handle then swells and tapers into the bottom handle segment. This segment has a wood core and is wrapped in alternating twisted, patina’d iron wire. The historical handle textures of leather and wire wraps are reminiscent of medieval weapons and provides a secure and wonderfully tactile grip.
A leather sheath or display stand can be made for this piece upon request.
